Patriarch of Jerusalem
Born in Madaba (Jordan) October 23, 1940; ordained Priest June 29, 1966; consecrated Bishop of Tunis July 22, 1992; appointed Archbishop Coadjutor of Jerusalem September 8, 2005; took possession of his see June 22, 2008. He is Grand Prior of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher, president ex-officio of the Assembly of Catholic Ordinaries of the Holy Land (A.O.C.T.S.) and of the Conference of Latin Bishops of the Arab Regions (C.E.L.R.A.), member of the Council of Catholic Patriarchs of the East, member of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches, and the Pontifical Council for Family.
